The Shire of Coolgardie is taking an exciting step towards a greener, more sustainable future with its involvement in the Goldfields Esperance Urban Greening Program.

More than 130 seniors from the Shire of Coolgardie and the Shire of Dundas came together yesterday to welcome the festive season at the annual Seniors Christmas Luncheon. The event delivered a true Country Christmas atmosphere, complete with great company, delicious food, and outstanding local entertainment.

The Shire of Coolgardie acknowledges the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder’s (CKB) recent release of its Draft Submission to the Local Government Advisory Board – Boundary Change to the media earlier this week and subsequently printed in the Kalgoorlie Miner on 5 November 2025 (City up for Taking on Shire, 5 November 2025).

The spirit of healthy ageing, with a dash of competition, was on full display last week as the Shire of Coolgardie proudly hosted the 2025 CommHealth Games at the Kambalda Community Recreation Facility.

Tonight marked an important milestone for the Shire of Coolgardie, as Mrs Sue Schoch JP officiated the Swearing-In Ceremony for our newly elected Councillors. During the ceremony, each Councillor formally made their Declaration of Office in accordance with the Local Government Act 1995.

Women 40 years and over with no symptoms are eligible for a FREE screening mammogram. Breast cancer is the most common life threatening cancer for women and 1 in 7 women in Australia will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. Having a screening mammogram (breast x-ray) every two years significantly increases the chance of a woman surviving breast cancer and reduces the amount of treatment required. More than 75 per cent of breast cancers occur in women over the age of 50. Research shows that screening is most effective for this age group.

The Shire of Coolgardie welcomed the Minister for Local Government, Hon. Hannah Beazley MLA, and Member for Kalgoorlie, Ali Kent MLA, to the Coolgardie Council Chambers on Monday, 13 October. The meeting provided the Minister an opportunity to deliver her decision following the Shire’s response to the Show Cause Notice issued in late August. The discussion was direct and clearly outlined the expectations placed on Council moving forward.

Coolgardie once again came alive with colour, laughter and community spirit as thousands gathered for Coolgardie Day on 21September 2025. This much-loved annual event is not only a chance to celebrate our town’s birthday but also a proud reflection of our heritage and identity.

The Shire of Coolgardie confirms that it has formally responded to the Show Cause Notice issued by the Minister for Local Government, Hon Hannah Beazley MLA on 26 August 2025. The Shire submitted its response on 15 September 2025, within the 21-day timeframe provided. In its response, Council addressed all questions and statements raised by the Minister, providing clarification and further context on the matters identified.

On the morning of September 8th, families gathered at the Kambalda Community Recreational Facility Library for a special visit from Beverly Pack of Parenting Connections, who delivered another delightful and enriching Finger Gym session.

On Thursday, 11 September 2025, the Kambalda community gathered from 11:30am to 1:00pm to mark R U OK? Day—a national day of action that reminds us to check in with each other and start a meaningful conversation.

The Shire of Coolgardie has expressed disappointment at receiving a Show Cause Notice from the Minister for Local Government, Hannah Beazley. The Shire was not advised in advance of the Minister’s intention to issue the Notice and was only made aware shortly before its public release, when the Shire President received a direct call from the Minister.
