The January School Holiday Program delivered weeks of high-energy fun, creativity and community connection, with something happening almost every day.
One of the standout events was the Emergency Services vs Community Basketball Game. It was an absolute crowd favourite and will definitely be back by popular demand. The match ended in a draw, but the kids certainly ran rings around the adults! With spectacular hoops, plenty of laughs and great sportsmanship, it was a fantastic way to bring everyone together.
NJ from Bunnings Kalgoorlie joined us for two hands-on sessions, where children proudly created their own cork hats and painted pots to take home. The creativity continued with YMCA-led activities including a scavenger hunt, volleyball day, movie session and “paint your own cup” workshop — each one enthusiastically embraced by participants.
Centrecare treated everyone to a delicious cooking experience, preparing dumplings from scratch, while Cooking with Kellie proved popular with young aspiring chefs eager to learn new skills and enjoy preparing their own meals.
Our weekly Community Morning Tea remained a much-loved tradition. Each Monday, Mr Peter generously shared homegrown zucchini and pumpkins with everyone — a wonderful example of the kindness and generosity that makes our community so special. Thank you, Peter.
Roy Bergin and the Youth Group team went above and beyond, running extra sessions throughout the holidays. Wednesday night movie nights were a hit, alongside the ever-popular Friday night Youth Group (affectionately known by some as the “babysitting club”!).
These holidays were truly action-packed, filled with laughter, learning and memorable moments for all involved.
