Community Assistance Fund

The Shire of Coolgardie Community Assistance Fund (CAF) supports local community-led projects and recognises outstanding local individuals who are  selected to represent the Shire or participate in recognised achievement opportunities.

The CAF has two streams:

  • Community Project Grants - for not-for-profit community groups and organisations. These grants are assessed through two advertised funding rounds each year.
  • Outstanding Individual Assistance Grants - for eligible residents. These grants are separate from the community project rounds and may be applied for at any time during the year, subject to available funds.

Community Project Grants - two rounds each year 

Community Project Grants support local not-for-profit community groups and organisations to deliver projects, events, activities, small equipment purchases and initiatives that benefit the Shire of Coolgardie community and align with the Shire’s aspirations:

  • an inclusive, safe and vibrant community;
  • a thriving local economy; and
  • effective management of infrastructure, heritage and environment.

Community Project Grants will be offered through two advertised funding rounds each financial year. The CEO may adjust the opening and closing dates to accommodate Council meeting cycles, public holidays, operational requirements or the adoption of the budget. Any changes to these dates will be published below.

Opens 1 October each year.

Closes 5.00pm AWST on the last Friday in November.

Closes 5.00pm AWST on the last Friday in April.

How to apply

Community Project Grant applicants should complete the Community Project Grant Application Form and submit it before the relevant round closing date. Late applications and applications received outside the advertised funding rounds will not be accepted.

  • Applicants must complete the form electronically; handwritten applications will not be accepted.
  • Acquittal must be submitted within 60 days of completing the approved project

Outstanding Individual Assistance Grants - open all year

Outstanding Individual Assistance Grants are available for eligible residents who have been selected, nominated or invited by a recognised independent organisation, association, school, club or governing body to participate in a significant representative, competitive, cultural, leadership, academic or community achievement opportunity.

  • Applicants may apply for up to $500.
  • Applications may be submitted at any time during the year until the annual allocation is exhausted.
  • Applications must be submitted at least four weeks before the event, competition or activity.
  • Funding is not available retrospectively.
  • Applicants may receive one Outstanding Individual Assistance Grant per financial year.
  • If the applicant is under 18 years of age, a parent or guardian must complete and sign the application.

 The amount of assistance Shire may approve is based on opportunity type and available funds. The following guide is used to determine the maximum assistance.

State or national opportunity requiring interstate travel

International opportunity or exceptional national opportunity with significant cost

Exceptional local/regional recognition where the applicant demonstrates significant achievement and community benefit
