Residential Household Waste
The removal of the Tip Pass System for Residents – Effective 1 June 2026
At the recent 26 May 2026 Council meeting, Council unanimously support the removal of the Tip Pass system.
From 1 June 2026, residents and ratepayers will benefit from:
- Free disposal of general household waste
- No more tip passes required
- No volume limits per visit
This means residents can visit the Coolgardie Waste Facility or Kambalda Waste Transfer Station as needed, without worrying about restrictions or additional charges for standard household rubbish.
What about the tip passes I paid for?
If you have unused Tip Passes and proof of payment you can bring them back to the Kambalda Community Recreation Facility or the Coolgardie Community Recreation Centre for a refund.
What can I dispose of for free?
The following materials can still be disposed of free of charge, provided they meet acceptance criteria:
- Green waste
- Clean soil
- Scrap metal
For all waste disposal fees, please see our fees and charges.

Additional or Stolen Household Waste bin(s)
Each Residential property within the Shire of Coolgardie can apply for a 240L Waste Bin. Waste collection fees are then included in the Landowners' rates each financial year.
If you need to request a new bin, an additional bin, exchange, or report a damaged, lost, or stolen bin, please complete the relevant online form.
Please note the following:
- An additional waste collection fee will be charged for each additional waste bin, which covers the additional bin collection for the financial year.
- If your bin is stolen, you must report it to the Police, who will then provide you with a Police Report number. A replacement fee will apply if you fail to deliver a stolen/missing bin report. This should be paid before delivery.

To keep your household safe, always tape used batteries and store them in a child-proof and fireproof container out of reach.
Important: Ensure each button battery is completely enclosed in tape before storage. Once secured, please take batteries to a designated drop-off point as soon as possible.
