New GROH Homes Completed in Kambalda, Strengthening Services in the Shire of Coolgardie

The Shire of Coolgardie is pleased to announce the completion of three new Government Regional Officers Housing (GROH) dwellings in Kambalda, marking an important milestone in supporting essential workers across our community.

Construction began in 2023 following Council’s endorsement of a long‑term lease agreement between the Shire and GROH. With the homes now complete, the Shire has secured a 10‑year offer to lease for each of the three properties, ensuring safe, modern and reliable housing for public sector professionals working in the region.

These new homes are part of a broader commitment to strengthen services and support the dedicated staff who contribute so much to our towns— including teachers, health workers and police officers. By improving access to quality accommodation, the project helps attract and retain skilled workers in Kambalda, providing direct benefits to local families, businesses and community wellbeing.

Shire President Paul Wilcox said the initiative reflects the Shire’s ongoing focus on investing in strong, sustainable communities.
“Ensuring that essential workers can also live in the communities they serve is a priority for the Shire of Coolgardie, and these three new homes are an important addition to our region which increases the number of modern dwellings available in support of that goal.”

The project was delivered in collaboration with the Department of Housing and Works, with the Shire of Coolgardie  funding the project and Modular WA and PGE completing the site works. The Shire acknowledges the effort of all partners who contributed to achieving this positive outcome for the region.

The Shire looks forward to welcoming new and returning service professionals who will soon call these new residences home.
