On Saturday, 15th November, the Shire and Sikh community celebrated a significant milestone with the unveiling of the Sikh Plaque at Tommy Talbot Park.

Approx. 150 guests gathered to commemorate this important event, paying tribute to the history and resilience of the Sikh pioneers who contributed so much to our community. The plaque honours their enduring legacy and the hardships they faced in the past.

Today, the Sikh community has come full circle, with many now serving as road train drivers, continuing to play a vital role in the local economy and the fabric of our region.

If you wish to learn more about this important piece of our history, we encourage you to visit Tommy Talbot Park on Bayley Street and take a moment to reflect on the contributions of the Sikh community.
