R U OK? Day

There’s more to say after R U OK? Was the message for R U OK? Day 2020.

2020 has been a challenging year for everyone and circumstances have made it even more important for us all to stay connected and, for those who are able, be willing to support those around us.

On Thursday 10th September, Kambalda Community Resource Centre partnered with Service Providers, HOPE Community Services, BEGA Garnbirringu Health Services, Gold Fields St Ives and Centrecare Kalgoorlie to assist in helping raise awareness for R U OK? Day at Lions Park, Kambalda.

The morning started with an opening speech by Shire of Coolgardie Vice President Tracey Rathbone followed by a representative from each Service Provider explaining the services they provide to the Goldfields.

Kambalda Mens Shed took charge of the FREE sausage sizzle which ran throughout the day and they did a great job of keeping up with the high demand of bbq’d sausages. It was wonderful to see the guys wearing their R U OK? chef aprons which were kindly supplied by HOPE community Services. Well done Kambalda Mens Shed and thank you.

At 12.00 noon the Kambalda West District High School leadership group joined the day and it seemed like the students were enjoying interacting with the different service providers and it was inspiring to see the way the students conducted themselves representing the school to such a high standard in the community.

Thank you to Michael Aslin for the sounds on the day. It added a comforting tone to the day.
