What a great Morning it’s been at the Kambalda Community Recreation Facility hosting one of the many Cancer Council Australia Biggest Morning Tea’s on Saturday 11th June 2022.

Community members were invited to come and attend a fun filled morning with games, prizes to be won, raffles and plenty of sweet and savoury foods to choose from.
With the help of our community members a generous amount of $ 1,445.75 was raised with all donations going directly to Cancer Council WA supporting people impacted by cancer when they need it most.

Over 50 community members followed the invitation, participating in activities throughout the morning, enjoying the atmosphere, mingling with one another and raising a cup of tea in memory of a loved one, someone they know or just in support of the cause.

With the entry of $ 5.00, each community member automatically went into the draw for the wonderful door prize kindly donated by Bunnings Kalgoorlie. Raffle tickets were also on sale prior to the event and on the day, with 15 amazing prizes to be won. A $ 250.00 Harvey Norman gift card, a $ 200.00 Bunnings gift card, a $ 100.00 Exchange Hotel voucher and a $ 100.00 Woolworths voucher were just some of the major prizes to be won by community members.

Another highlight in this year’s event was the outstanding selection of silent auction items which were on display and open for bidding on till noon prior to announcing the highest bidder. High value items were a coffee machine, a lady’s watch, a physiotherapy session voucher, a handmade quilt, a grazing board and knife set, all kindly donated by many generous donators, made for an impressive display.

By far, this has been the most popular program and with its 4th year running was the ‘Bake-Off competition’ open to all ages and winners were announced in both children’s and adults category.

Congratulations once again to our winners:

1st Prize - Bonny for her delicious cheesecake
2nd Prize - Connie for her outstanding vanilla sponge cake
Children’s category was won by Branden with his scrumptious cupcakes.

The fun didn’t stop there, both the trivia game with some challenging questions and two rounds of heads and tails stand offs added some cheers to the room, with more winners of prizes being announced.

The Shire of Coolgardie and the Kambalda Community Resource Centre wishes to thank all our wonderful donators for supporting the event with Kambalda based businesses Gencon Civil, Woolworths, Shelly Louise Photography, Café 312, and Kalgoorlie businesses Exchange Hotel, Bunnings Warehouse, Gloria Jeans, Retravision, Office National, Daphne Florist, Kmart, Subway, Kalgoorlie Case & Drill, Addlife Health, Prouds, Salty’s Surf and Skate as well as individual community members Connie, Pam, Danelle, Darryl and Eleanor.
