The Shire of Coolgardie were privileged to host three inspirational and local Goldfields Women for this year’s International Women’s Day.

MC’d by well known women’s advocate and CEO of Goldfields Women’s Health Care Centre, Gloria Moyle the evening began with her story of challenge and triumph as she shared her experiences of losing loved ones, being a carer for family and at one point being held hostage by gun point at a previous job. Gloria maintained throughout all the challenges life has presented her that she is indeed a lucky person.

The mic was then given to Lynn Hazelton. Another Goldfields girl who has made her way as a musician and used it to travel the world and help others along the way through the ‘Art of Songing’, which is to work alongside each person or place to help find the singer in their unique song and the song in each individual singer. Lynn shared her voice with us in the form of song as well as speech, sharing breathing exercises to help ground yourself and speaking about taking moments for yourself in any situation if you need it.

The audience was eager to hear from the final speaker of the evening, Tyler Mahoney, star of the Discovery Channel’s, Gold Rush: Parker’s Trail. The 27year old has packed so much into her years having grown up as a fourth-generation goldminer on stations to leaving it all behind at the age of 18 to be a model in Melbourne. The call home was strong and after a few valuable life lessons learnt in Melbourne, Tyler returned to the Goldfields. Tyler engaged the audience with stories of travelling the world, her advocacy for mental health and reinforced that having self-belief, a desire to give anything a go and being able to pick yourself up and keep going has contributed to her success.

The evening wrapped up with the audience having the opportunity to ask the speakers any questions they had which offered more insights and advice from these inspirational women.
