WARDEN FINNERTY’S, COOLGARDIE - CARETAKER POSITION

The Shire of Coolgardie is seeking Expressions of Interest for the Caretaker position at Warden Finnerty’s, Coolgardie. This position is ideally suited to a couple with an interest in history and heritage.

Warden Finnerty’s is a historic property owned by the National Trust of Australia and leased to the Shire of Coolgardie.

  • The property is open to the public five days a week, Saturday to Wednesday, 11am – 4pm (closed Thursday & Friday).
  • All other extraordinary events are subject to caretaker availability and negotiation.

Responsibilities

  • Adherence to the Deed of Lease between the National Trust and the Shire of Coolgardie
  • Maintaining museum collections
  • Cleaning museum
  • Maintaining gardens and reticulation
  • Conduct group/individual Museum tours – coaches, public etc.
  • Cleaning onsite public toilet
  • Providing history of property and local information to visitors
  • Cash handling and stock take
  • Recording entry numbers of visitors
  • Weekly reports & takings given to the Tourism & Heritage Coordinator
  • Yearly audit on Museum collection
  • Willingness to continue Devonshire tea service

In return for their services caretaker will receive

  • Free accommodation
  • Free utilities (water, power, gas)

Successful applicants will need to provide a satisfactory police clearance and Working with Childrens Check.           

In accordance with section 3.58 (3) of the Local Government Act, the Shire of Coolgardie invites any interested party to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) regarding this proposed disposal by 4.00pm Friday 27th October 2023.
