Expression of Interest (EOI) - Warden Finnerty's Coolgardie Caretaker Position

The Shire of Coolgardie is seeking Expressions of Interest for the Caretaker position at Warden Finnerty’s Coolgardie. The position is ideally suited to a couple with an interest in history and heritage.
Warden Finnerty’s is a historic property owned by the National Trust of Australia and leased to the Shire of Coolgardie (SoC).
- The property is open to the public five days a week. Saturday to Wednesday, 10am – 3pm.
- The garden of the property is used for after-hours events such as markets and live music as required.
- We try to accommodate coach tours outside our regular opening hours when necessary to align with their travel schedule. For example, we have one coach company that visits at 9.30am on Thursdays every few months. If the caretaker is absent, SoC staff typically access the Museum section of the property to allow entry for the coach, as the caretaker’s areas are locked for privacy.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining museum collections
- Cleaning museum
- Maintaining gardens and reticulation
- Museum tours
- Cleaning onsite public toilet
- Providing history of property to visitors
- Providing local information to visitors
- Yearly collections audit as required by National Trust (with SoC staff member)
- Weekly visitor statistic reports
- Cash handling of museum entry fees
- Maintaining brochure/handout stock levels
- Taking cash and stats to Visitor Centre twice a week
- Willingness to commence Devonshire tea’s (preferred)
In return for their services caretaker will receive
- Free accommodation
- Free utilities (water, power, gas)
Successful applicants will need to provide a satisfactory police clearance, Working with Children’s Check and pass a drug and alcohol screen.
