The Shire of Coolgardie was proud to welcome community members to the recent Local Government Elections Candidate Information Session, which offered valuable insights for anyone considering standing for Council.

Hosted by WALGA, together with the Department of Local Government, Industry Regulation and Safety (DLGIRS) and the WA Electoral Commission, the session provided a clear overview of the election process and highlighted the important responsibilities of Councillors and Local Governments. It also outlined the key regulatory role of DLGIRS in Western Australia.

If you missed the event, don’t worry – a recorded version will be available on the WA Electoral Commission website: www.elections.wa.gov.au.

Adding a local perspective, Shire of Coolgardie Acting CEO, Aaron Cook, led an engaging Q&A session, giving attendees the chance to explore what it truly means to serve as a Councillor in our community.
