Shire looks ahead with new Chief Executive Officer

The Shire of Coolgardie is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Sabine Taylor as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Council endorsed the selection at a Special Council Meeting held on Tuesday, 15 September following a diligent recruitment process conducted by the Chief Executive Officer Selection Panel. The panel consisted of elected members and an independent panel member, consistent with the CEO Recruitment Model Standards and the Shire's CEO recruitment framework.

The Shire President said the appointment provided continuity, stability and strong executive leadership for the organisation and the community.

"Since joining the Shire as Executive Manager Community, Development and Regulatory Services in 2025, and later serving as Acting CEO in 2026, Ms Taylor has demonstrated strong leadership, professionalism and a genuine commitment to the organisation and the community.

Throughout this period, she has provided stability and direction for staff and Council while overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Shire.

Her experience in regional leadership, corporate governance, risk management, financial sustainability and organisational transformation will be valuable as the Shire continues to strengthen its operations and plan for the future.”

Ms Taylor said she was honoured to be appointed to the role on a permanent basis and looked forward to continuing to serve the Shire of Coolgardie.

“I am incredibly honoured to be officially appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the Shire of Coolgardie. Local government plays a vital role in building strong, connected and sustainable communities, and I am committed to ensuring the Shire continues to deliver responsible, transparent and community-focused leadership.

My focus will be on strengthening trust, supporting good governance, enabling our people, and working collaboratively with Elected Members, staff, local businesses and the broader community to deliver outcomes that make a meaningful difference.”

Ms Taylor brings more than 25 years of senior executive leadership experience across local government, financial services, and private enterprise, with a strong focus on governance, risk, organisational performance, financial sustainability, and community-centred service delivery.

Her career profile includes serving as the CEO of the Shire of Wyalkatchem, CEO of Murweh Shire Council, Director of Corporate Services, Governance and Risk at Paroo Shire Council, Acting CEO and Director of Corporate Services at Alice Springs Town Council.
