At the recent 26 May Council meeting, Council unanimously supported the removal of the Shire's Tip Pass system.
What’s changing?
From 1 June 2026, residents and ratepayers will benefit from:
- Free disposal of general household waste
- No more tip passes required
- No volume limits per visit
This means residents can visit local waste facilities as needed, without worrying about restrictions or additional charges for standard household rubbish.
What stays the same?
To ensure safe and responsible waste management, fees will still apply to certain items that require specialised handling, including:
- Asbestos
- Concrete and demolition rubble
- White goods
- Mattresses
- E-waste
- Tyres
- Oils
This initiative reflects Council’s commitment to supporting local households, reducing illegal dumping risks, and encouraging responsible waste disposal.
What about the tip passes I paid for?
If you have unused Tip Passes and proof of payment you can bring them back to the Kambalda Community recreation Facility or the Coolgardie Community Recreation Centre for a refund.
Key decision highlights:
- Household waste fees removed (excluding specific hazardous items)
- Tip passes discontinued from 1 June 2026
- No limits on waste volume per visit for residents and ratepayers
Council looks forward to seeing these changes make a real difference across the Shire and encourages everyone to take advantage of the improved service.
