The Coolgardie Recreation Centre was a hub of excitement during the April school holidays, as the YMCA School Holiday Program delivered three days of fun, food, and fantastic activities for the children in our community.
Tuesday 22 April – Movie Day
The week started with a cozy movie screening, where children sat back with popcorn in hand and enjoyed a relaxing afternoon. A sausage sizzle added to the fun, making it a perfect way to kick off the school holiday events.
Wednesday 23 April – Scavenger Hunt Adventure
On Wednesday, young explorers took part in a Coolgardie scavenger hunt, turning into detectives for the day as they followed clues and worked in teams to uncover hidden items around the area. Afterwards, everyone gathered to enjoy a well-earned BBQ lunch.
Thursday 24 April – Rock Painting
The week wrapped up with a creative “Paint a Rock” session. With paintbrushes in hand, kids decorated their own rocks with colours, patterns, and fun designs — a hands-on activity that let everyone’s imagination shine.
It was a great week of laughter, learning, and connection, with plenty of smiles from kids and families alike. A big thank you to the YMCA team for running the program and bringing the community together during the school break.
