The Shire of Coolgardie welcomed the R U OK? Convoy as it travelled through the region, bringing people together in both Coolgardie and Kambalda.

The R U OK? Conversation Convoy travels to regional communities around the country to help Australians understand the  important role they can play in looking out for their friends, family and colleagues.

At the Coolgardie Community Recreation Centre, the Convoy set up with information stands, seating, chess tables, and a BBQ. Community members dropped in throughout the afternoon, sharing a hot drink, a meal, and time in the sun. Around 60 people attended, with a mix of families, young people and long-time residents like . It was a chance to sit down, have a chat, and check in with each other.

In Kambalda, residents were also invited to stop by the Kambalda Community Recreation Facility, grab a coffee or a sausage sizzle, and connect with others. The Convoy team shared information about support services and encouraged simple conversations around mental health and wellbeing.

The event was a wonderful opportunity to bring people together and reinforce the important message that a simple conversation can make a difference. The Shire thanks the R U OK? Convoy team for their visit and their ongoing commitment to supporting regional communities across Australia.

The Convoy heads to Esperance on the 9th and 10th of June.

You can find more information about the Convoy here, including a schedule of public events and resources to help support local communities.
