Students from Kambalda West District High School recently enjoyed a once‑in‑a‑lifetime opportunity, travelling to Perth to take part in a Rugby Sevens Tour, proudly representing their school and the wider Goldfields region.
Thanks to $2,000 in funding from the Shire of Coolgardie’s Community Assistance Fund, the students were able to compete at a higher level, gain valuable experience, and build confidence both on and off the field.
Senior Teacher Matthew Reed said the tour meant a great deal to the students.
“For many of the students, it was a once‑in‑a‑lifetime experience. The opportunity to travel, compete and represent both their school and the Goldfields region meant a great deal to them,” Mr Reed said.
“Throughout the tour, the students conducted themselves exceptionally well and were incredibly appreciative of the support that made it all possible.”
The tour allowed students to test their skills against strong competition, form new friendships and experience elite sporting environments – opportunities that are often limited for regional students.
The Shire of Coolgardie is proud to support initiatives that create positive experiences for young people and strengthen community connections through sport, education and teamwork.
