A team of relatively new U14 boys from the Shire of Coolgardie have their eyes set on a basketball grand final and they are on their way to achieving it.

The Shire of Coolgardie were privileged to host three inspirational and local Goldfields Women for this year’s International Women’s Day.

Following the terrible floods that have devasted the Kimberley region in recent weeks, DFES put a call out for two volunteers from each Western Australian region ranging from Donnybrook to Karratha. Steven Forward, one of our long-standing staff members here at the Shire of Coolgardie answered the call.

Every year, the Shire of Coolgardie recognises and acknowledges individuals, community groups and organisations for the contributions they have made to our community. This year saw a record number of nominations made over four categories comprising of the Citizen Award, Youth Award, Community Group or Event and the Corporate Award. Here are your winners for 2023.

On Thursday the 24 of November 2022, the Shire of Coolgardie hosted their annual Seniors Christmas.

The Shire of Coolgardie’s independently run Meals on Wheels service was recognised on a National stage this week, after winning the Meals On Wheels Australia Service Excellence Award for 2022.

The Bluebush Village is hosting its first group of 40 guests this week as announced by Shire Chief Executive Officer James Trail at the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s 22nd Annual What’s Down the Track Forum on 17 November.

WA Primary Health Alliance (WAPHA) has recently purchased additional licenses for individuals to access the Black Dog Institute Recognise and Respond training module.

Travellers driving through Coolgardie can now stop for more than a break at a brand new roadside rest area built specifically to combat driver fatigue.

At last night’s Special Council Meeting, Shire of Coolgardie Councillors supported a proposal for the development of a second Workers Accommodation Village in Kambalda West.

National NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia in the first week of July each year, celebrating and recognising the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The week of festivities is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth.

We are proud to announce that on Wednesday 22nd June, Coolgardie was revealed as the third-place winner in the GWN7 Tiny Tourism Town Awards at the WA Tourism Conference in Perth.

The Shire of Coolgardie was recently gifted an art piece with significant ties to Kambalda and it’s rich mining history from Don Scott, founder of Scott Engineering.

Our men folk this morning were encouraged by Owen from Men’s Regional Health to measure their waist line (chassis), have their blood pressure checked (oil pressure) and evaluate their stress/coping skills (shock absorbers) in order to maintain health and longevity (smooth running vehicle).

Friday night was the perfect night to wind up Reconciliation Week in Kambalda with Centrecare running a specialized Youth Night.

FoodSafe Online is a Food Handler Training Program for individuals. This is a fully online course with training videos and questions. FoodSafe® Online was developed by Environmental Health Australia (Western Australia) in consultation with state governments, academia, local industry and consumers. 

The Driver Reviver Program is a community initiative operated nationally by volunteers. The Program aims to provide an opportunity for the community to contribute to WA’s road safety strategy 2020-2030 by addressing fatigue related road trauma.

The Shire of Coolgardie is excited to be celebrating 100 weeks of providing meals on wheels to the most vulnerable in the community this March.
