Daffodil Darling Winner, Melinda.
Residents in both Coolgardie and Kambalda came together this month to support Daffodil Day, raising funds and awareness for Cancer Council while celebrating the strength and generosity of their communities.
At the Coolgardie Recreation Centre, approximately 25 community members gathered for a Daffodil Day Morning Tea on Thursday, 20 August. Through donations, daffodil sales, a silent auction and other fundraising activities, attendees raised more than $700 for Cancer Council.
A highlight of the event was a silent auction featuring two beautiful paintings generously donated by Jaqui Mills, which attracted strong interest from attendees. Guests also embraced the fun and festive spirit of the day through the Daffodil Darling Competition, showcasing their best spring-inspired outfits.
Congratulations to Melinda, who was crowned this year's Daffodil Darling, and Rosemarie, who was awarded runner-up. Both received prizes thanks to the generosity of local supporters and donors.
The Shire extends its sincere thanks to the Coolgardie P&C, Jaqui Mills, Gudrun, and Lisa and Shane Munro from Kalgoorlie City News, along with everyone who attended, donated and supported the event.
Meanwhile, at the Kambalda Recreation Facility, community members gathered for an equally special Daffodil Day morning tea, enjoying an opportunity to connect with friends and neighbours while supporting an important cause with $200 raised and 12 in attendance.
Daffodil Day remains one of Australia's most recognised fundraising campaigns, helping Cancer Council continue its efforts in cancer research, prevention, advocacy and support services.
Together, the Coolgardie and Kambalda communities showed that even small acts of kindness can create a lasting impact.
