Clarfication on GP Service Update for Coolgardie & Kambalda (bulk billing)

Published on Thursday, 19 June 2025 at 2:58:52 PM

Further to our previous update we would like to provide the following clarification concerning bulk billing queries received by St John Medical Centre in Kambalda.

As part of the Labor Party’s election promise, Anthony Albanese announced that from 1st November 2025, Labor will expand their bulk billing funding to all Australians.

What does this mean for you?
Currently, this policy has NOT been implemented which means that 𝒐𝒏𝒍𝒚 those patients who hold a valid Concession Card are eligible to be bulk billed.

Why is that?
The policy that we expect to be implemented on 1st November 2025 offers an increase in funding to allow medical practices to bulk bill their patients. Without this increase in funding, bulk billing all patients under the current rebate system is not viable.

We understand that the recent announcement may have caused some confusion. So, to clarify - the current billing fees have not yet changed, and only current Concession Card holders are eligible to be bulk billed at this time.

Please be courteous when making enquiries. The staff at the St John Medical Centre are available to assist you if you have any questions.
