General Hand - Labourer x 2

The Shire of Coolgardie is seeking 2 reliable and safety-focused General Hand - Labourers to join the Infrastructure and Assets team.
This is a hands-on outdoor role supporting road and drainage works, general maintenance, public infrastructure, streetscapes and other operational activities across the Shire.
We are looking for someone with a strong work ethic and practical attitude — someone who works well in a crew, follows instructions, uses tools and equipment safely and is willing to contribute across a broad range of outdoor works.

You will have the opportunity to:
- Assist with road maintenance and construction, including pothole patching, gravel works, shoulders, drainage, culverts and guideposts.
- Undertake general labouring, hand work, spotting and support activities around graders, rollers, loaders, trucks and other plant.
- Install and maintain signs, roadside furniture and other public infrastructure as directed.
- Undertake cleaning, painting, vegetation control, litter removal and general maintenance of Shire assets and public spaces.
- Assist with parks, reserves, streetscape and facility maintenance when required.
- Operate vehicles, minor plant and equipment where licensed, trained and authorised.
- Complete pre-start checks and promptly report equipment, plant and worksite defects.
- Follow SWMS/JHA, traffic management, PPE, exclusion-zone and manual-handling requirements.
- Participate in pre-starts, toolbox meetings, emergency response and other operational activities as directed.

Working with the Shire of Coolgardie offers the opportunity to develop a broad range of practical skills in a team that maintains essential roads, drainage, facilities and public spaces across a large regional local government area.
The position is permanent and full-time and involves outdoor work in regional conditions, with travel between Shire worksites and communities as operationally required.

Remuneration: $70,000-$80,000 PLUS 12% superannuation and 17.5% annual leave loading. Any applicable regional allowances or employment benefits will be confirmed in the offer of employment.

Who We're Looking For
We want to hear from reliable, practical people who enjoy outdoor work, contribute positively to a team and take safety seriously.
You will bring the ability to undertake sustained outdoor and manual work safely, follow instructions, use hand and power tools, work around mobile plant and complete required pre-starts, timesheets and operational records.
Previous labouring, civil construction, roadworks, maintenance or parks experience will be highly regarded. A current WA C Class Driver’s Licence and Construction Induction (White Card) are essential. An HR licence and relevant plant, traffic management or other operational tickets will be advantageous.

Pre-employment Requirements
The preferred applicant will be required to successfully complete the Shire's pre-employment requirements, including:
- Pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol assessment.
- Evidence of legal working rights in Australia.
- Current WA C Class Driver's Licence.
- Construction Induction (White Card).
- National Police Clearance.
