Join Our Team!
Asset and Maintenance Officer
Protect our assets. Coordinate practical maintenance. Help shape sustainable infrastructure across the Goldfields.
The Shire of Coolgardie is seeking a capable and practical Asset and Maintenance Officer to join the Infrastructure and Assets team.
This is a varied operational and technical role focused on maintaining accurate asset information, coordinating inspections and maintenance activities, supporting renewal planning and helping ensure Shire infrastructure remains safe, serviceable and fit for purpose.
We are looking for someone who combines strong organisation and asset-management capability with practical field awareness — someone who can inspect assets, identify defects, maintain reliable records, coordinate contractors and translate asset information into timely maintenance and renewal actions.
Why this role?
This is an opportunity to work across a diverse regional asset portfolio and make a visible contribution to the facilities and infrastructure relied on by the communities of Coolgardie and Kambalda.
You will have the opportunity to:
- Maintain infrastructure and facility asset registers, condition data and supporting records.
- Undertake scheduled inspections and identify defects, maintenance needs and emerging asset risks.
- Receive, assess and prioritise maintenance requests against risk, service levels and operational need.
- Prepare practical scopes, obtain quotations and coordinate approved routine and minor maintenance works.
- Monitor work orders and contractor completion, verify quality and maintain completion evidence.
- Support asset valuations, revaluations, lifecycle planning, renewal forecasting and Asset Management Plan updates.
- Support minor capital and renewal projects through inspections, records, measurements and practical coordination.
- Provide asset and maintenance information to support budgets, grants, reporting and forward works planning.
- Ensure contractor, procurement, recordkeeping and WHS requirements are met.
Work and Live in the Goldfields
Working with the Shire of Coolgardie offers the opportunity to work across a broad range of community assets in a regional organisation where good asset information and responsive maintenance directly influence service quality, public safety and long-term infrastructure outcomes.
The position is permanent and full-time, based in Coolgardie with Shire-wide responsibilities, reporting to the Manager Infrastructure and Assets and working with crews, contractors, suppliers and other Shire teams.
What We Can Offer You
Remuneration: $85,000 – $92,000 PLUS 12% superannuation and 17.5% annual leave loading. Any applicable regional allowances or employment benefits will be confirmed in the offer of employment.
Shire benefits may include:
- Four weeks’ annual leave.
- Flexible working hours that may be negotiated.
- Professional development and training opportunities.
- Employee Assistance Program.
- Free skin cancer screening and flu vaccinations.
- Free access to the swimming pool and gym.
- Free school holiday care for school-aged children at both the Coolgardie and Kambalda Recreation Centres.
Who We're Looking For
We want to hear from people who can combine asset and maintenance knowledge with strong organisation, attention to detail and a practical approach to getting work completed.
You will bring the ability to organise and prioritise maintenance requests, inspect assets and identify defects, use Microsoft 365 and electronic asset/work-order systems, and understand general maintenance works for building infrastructure. Experience in an asset, facilities, maintenance, civil works or related operational environment is relevant to the role.
Knowledge of asset lifecycle and condition assessment, local government infrastructure, procurement and contractor controls, and experience with asset registers, GIS or asset management systems are desirable.
