Aquatic Technical Operators (ATO)
Lead safe pool operations. Support the team. Keep our facilities running well.
The Shire of Coolgardie would like to hear from Aquatic Technical Operators interested in casual seasonal opportunities that may be available during the 2026/2027 pool season, commencing in October 2026. The ATO supports the day-to-day operation of the Shire’s aquatic facilities, including staff supervision, water safety, customer service, cleanliness, hygiene and aquatic plant and infrastructure requirements.
Why this role?
This is a hands-on operational role for an experienced aquatic professional who can combine technical pool knowledge with staff supervision and strong customer service. You will help ensure the facility is clean, safe and effectively operated while supporting Lifeguards and responding appropriately to incidents, hazards and emergencies.
You will have the opportunity to:
- Oversee daily aquatic facility operations and help provide a clean, safe and effectively operated environment.
- Supervise Lifeguard staff and support effective work allocation, team performance and service delivery.
- Supervise patrons and user groups in accordance with Shire procedures, RLSSA safe pool operation guidelines and relevant industry standards.
- Maintain high standards of facility cleanliness and hygiene and support aquatic plant and infrastructure maintenance.
- Respond to accidents, injuries and emergencies, provide first aid where required and report serious incidents promptly.
- Promote and comply with WHS requirements, including hazard reporting, risk assessment and control.
Work in the Goldfields
The Shire of Coolgardie’s aquatic facilities are an important part of community life during the warmer months. These potential casual seasonal opportunities support safe, welcoming and well-run facilities for residents, families and visitors across the 2026/2027 pool season, commencing in October 2026.
Casual seasonal opportunities may be available at Shire of Coolgardie aquatic facilities. Hours and days, where offered, will be rostered according to operational requirements. Classification/remuneration will be determined by the Shire having regard to relevant experience and qualifications.
Who We’re Looking For
We are looking for a capable and organised aquatic professional with experience supervising staff and operating a public aquatic facility. You will bring sound judgement, strong customer service, practical WHS knowledge and the ability to work independently to a high standard.
Essential requirements include:
- Current SISSS00131 Aquatic Technical Operator certificate or equivalent.
- Current SISSS00133 Pool Lifeguard licence.
- Current HLTAID011 Provide First Aid and HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
- Current Working with Children Clearance.
- National Police Clearance less than 6 months old.
- Current C Class motor vehicle driver’s licence.
- Fitness and strength to complete manual handling tasks and flexibility in work hours and days.
The following will also be highly regarded:
- Certificate IV in Sport, Aquatics and Recreation or equivalent.
- Current membership and accreditation with Leisure Institute of WA Aquatics.
- Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of ProCal chlorine dosing systems for Group 1 pools.
