The Shire of Coolgardie would like to hear from enthusiastic and community-minded people interested in Aquatic Lifeguard Bronze casual seasonal opportunities that may be available during the 2026/2027 pool season, commencing in October 2026. This role supports qualified Lifeguards by supervising aquatic areas, helping maintain a safe environment and providing friendly customer service.
Why this role?
This is an entry-level aquatic role for people who hold a current Bronze Medallion and want to build practical experience in a supervised pool environment. You will work as part of the aquatic team, assist with patron safety and facility activities, and respond within your training and role scope.
You will have the opportunity to:
- Supervise aquatic areas and support a safe environment for patrons and facility users.
- Assist qualified Lifeguards and respond to emergencies within your training and role scope.
- Provide first aid and support aquatic rescue response when required.
- Provide friendly, consistent and professional customer service.
- Set up and pack away equipment for swim programs and activities.
- Identify and report hazards and follow Shire WHS and aquatic safety procedures.
Work in the Goldfields
The Shire of Coolgardie’s aquatic facilities are an important part of community life during the warmer months. These potential casual seasonal opportunities support safe, welcoming and well-run facilities for residents, families and visitors across the 2026/2027 pool season, commencing in October 2026.
Casual seasonal opportunities may be available during the pool season. Hours, where offered, will be rostered according to operational requirements. Remuneration/classification will be confirmed by the Shire and will reflect the scope of this Bronze-level role.
Who We’re Looking For
We are looking for reliable people who are confident in the water, communicate well with the public and can remain calm in an emergency. You will need to follow directions, work positively as part of a team and apply patience, tact and diplomacy when supporting facility rules and patron safety.
Essential requirements include:
- Current Bronze Medallion.
- Current HLTAID011 Provide First Aid and HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
- Current Working with Children Check (WWC).
- Minimum age of 15 years.
- Physical fitness, swimming ability and endurance sufficient for aquatic rescue activities.
