Aquatic Lifeguards (LG)

The Shire of Coolgardie would like to hear from qualified Aquatic Lifeguards interested in casual seasonal opportunities that may be available during the 2026/2027 pool season, commencing in October 2026. Lifeguards play a critical role in providing close supervision of aquatic areas, responding appropriately to emergencies and helping create a safe, welcoming experience for patrons.
Why this role?
This is a practical, customer-facing role where your vigilance, judgement and teamwork directly support safe and orderly aquatic facility operations. You will work with the wider aquatic team to supervise water bodies, assist customers, support programs and take appropriate action when safety issues or emergencies arise.
You will have the opportunity to:
- Maintain close supervision of water bodies and support safe, orderly aquatic facility operations.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and provide first aid when required.
- Provide professional customer service to patrons, user groups and stakeholders.
- Follow facility rules, regulations, Shire directions and approved procedures.
- Set up and pack away equipment for swim programs and aquatic activities.
- Identify and report hazards and demonstrate proactive concern for WHS.
Work in the Goldfields
The Shire of Coolgardie’s aquatic facilities (in Coolgardie and Kambalda) are an important part of community life during the warmer months. These potential casual seasonal opportunities support safe, welcoming and well-run facilities for residents, families and visitors across the 2026/2027 pool season, commencing in October 2026.
Casual seasonal opportunities may be available under the Local Government Industry Award 2020. Hours where offered, will be rostered according to operational requirements during the pool season, including periods of peak community use.
Who We’re Looking For
We are looking for alert, dependable and customer-focused Lifeguards who can communicate professionally, follow established procedures and work both independently and as part of a team. You will need to be comfortable working with members of the public and taking appropriate action in an emergency.
Essential requirements include:
- Current SISSS00133 Pool Lifeguard licence.
- Current HLTAID011 Provide First Aid and HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
- Current C Class Driver’s Licence (if eligible)
- Current Working with Children Check (WWC).
- Minimum age of 16 years.
- Physical fitness is sufficient to undertake activities in an aquatic environment.
The following will also be highly regarded:
- Certificate II in Sport, Aquatics and Recreation.

People considered for a casual seasonal opportunity will be required to successfully complete the Shire’s applicable pre-employment requirements, which may include a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol assessment, evidence of legal working rights in Australia, required licences and clearances, and verification of qualifications relevant to the role.
