The Shire of Coolgardie has confirmed its budget for the 2021/2022 financial year with capital works and continuation of service delivery the key objectives.

Shire President, Malcolm Cullen said one of the challenges for this year’s budget was the impact of COVID-19.

“COVID-19 placed significant pressure on cashflow during 2020/2021. The Shire spent an extra $500,000 in order to maintain facilities and adhere to WA Health Department requirements.”

“This budget maintains our focus on core services, efficiencies, an extensive array of community initiatives and the renewal and maintenance of Shire assets.”

“By increasing rates by 1.9%, we will be able to maintain current services as well as fund future infrastructure renewal projects, so we continue to meet community expectations as well as stimulate the Shire of Coolgardie economy,” said Cr Cullen

The Shire expects to raise $8.7 million in rates revenue for 2021/2022.
