Pulse Oximeters Making A Difference in Coolgardie Lives

Published on Tuesday, 12 April 2022 at 4:14:58 PM

Coolgardie residents are feeling a little more relaxed having collected their free Pulse Oximeter from the Coolgardie Community Recreation Centre, which assists them in monitoring their health during these uncertain COVID-19 times.  Thanks to the Department of Health WA, these devices are available to residents over the age of 65 years (Aboriginal people over the age of 50 years) and pregnantwomen.

What is a pulse oximeter?  It’s a small peg-like device that clips onto your fingertip to read your heart rate and blood oxygen levels.  You may be familiar with them when requiring medical treatment at the hospital.

Do I need one?  If you become Covid-19 positive, you will be able to use this device to monitor your health remotely.  By having this device, a health professional can assess and provide health advice from the comfort of your home.
