Congratulations to Cr Tracey Rathbone for achieving her Diploma of Local Government (Elected Member).

Cr Tracey Rathbone was presented with her diploma at the 2021 WALGA Conference which provides her with national recognition of the highest level of academic achievement for elected members.

The diploma is facilitated by WALGA and focuses on developing skills and knowledge of elected members to support their role and providing leadership within the council and community.

Cr Rathbone has lived in Kambalda for 43 years and is proud to call the Shire her home. Over the years she has been an active community member, working as a volunteer, and providing life coaching advice to support fellow community members.

First elected to Council in 2011, Cr Rathbone is devoted to the Coolgardie Shire communities.

“Since moving here from New South Wales with my family in 1978 and experiencing the roller coaster that is the history of the Shire of Coolgardie, I have yet to discover any better place to call home,” said Cr Rathbone.

“I value and respect the resilience and kinship within our communities and initially desired to return a long-term gesture of good will back to my community.”

“I have since been further inspired and am dedicated to promoting the Shire of Coolgardie to ensure our communities will continue to endure, develop and prosper into the future,” she added.

“We have so many opportunities that have yet to be chartered and I am so excited to be part of the future possibilities and outcomes.”

As a dedicated Council member, Cr Rathbone is determined to continue serving in the best interests of the Shire’s communities, deliberating on matters that meet the needs and visions of the Shire of Coolgardie. Her decision to undertake the Diploma course in 2018 is a pledge to her commitment as a Council member, enabling her to perform the duties of her role to the best of her ability.

“Completing my Diploma has enriched my ability to confidently articulate and convey the relevance of the lawful processes of Local Government whilst supporting community engagement on matters that impact our people and communities,” said Cr Rathbone.

“I anticipate my acquired knowledge will promote trusting relationships, maintain positive connectivity between Council, the organization and stakeholders, whilst facilitating the interests of the community.”
