The result of the Ordinary Election conducted as a postal vote on Saturday, 16 October 2021 is as follows:

Sherryl Leanne BOTTING is elected as Councillor for the Shire of Coolgardie and will hold office until 18 October 2025.

Malcolm Raymond CULLEN is elected as Councillor for the Shire of Coolgardie and will hold office until 18 October 2025.

Rosezina Caroline MITCHELL is elected as Councillor for the Shire of Coolgardie and will hold office until 18 October 2025.

The next Ordinary Local Government Election will be held on 16 October 2021.

Nominations for prospective Councillors are now closed.

Voting packages will be mailed to all eligible electors from Friday, 17 September prior to election day (Saturday, October 16). The package will include a list of candidates, ballot papers, instructions on how to vote and a declaration. To vote, follow the instructions included in the package.

The Shire's elections are conducted as postal elections by the Western Australian Electoral Commission

Enrolling to vote

Enrolling to Vote – ROLL CLOSED: 5:00 PM Friday, 27 August 2021

Enrolment is compulsory for all Western Australians who:

  • are aged 18 years and over
  • are Australian citizens (or a British subject who was on the Roll between 26 October 1983 and 25 January 1984)
  • have lived at their current address for at least one month. 

Electors who are aged 17 years can enrol provisionally. They can only vote when they reach 18 years of age.

When you enrol to vote, you are enrolled for Commonwealth, State and local government elections. You can check your enrolment online. To update your details, or check your enrolment; visit https://www.elections.wa.gov.au/enrol

People who own or occupy property within a local government district, can apply to their local government to be included on the roll as an owner/occupier, as long as they are eligible electors. A body corporate may apply to have up to two eligible electors to be included on the owner/occupier roll.

The Shire of Coolgardie is holding an election by postal vote on Saturday, 16 October 2021 to fill vacancies in the offices of Councillors as listed below:

Election Packages will be sent to all electors on the local government electoral roll where there is an election in their electorate.

Replacement Packages can be obtained from the Shire of Coolgardie Community & Recreation Centre, 69 Sylvester Street Coolgardie & the Shire of Coolgardie, Irish Mulga Drive Kambalda during business hours prior to election day or at any polling place in the district during the times listed below on election day if the package is not received or should any papers be missing.

Post your vote early. Completed postal voting packages must reach the Returning Officer by 6.00pm on election day, Saturday, 16 October 2021.

You may hand deliver your package to an electoral officer at the Shire of Coolgardie, Community & Recreation Centre, 69 Sylvester Street Coolgardie & the Shire of Coolgardie, Irish Mulga Drive Kambalda during business hours before election day or at any polling place in the district during the times listed below on election day.
