The Shire of Coolgardie Council comprises of seven Councillors. Each Councillor is elected for a term of four years and Council Elections are held every two years, midway through a Councillor’s term.

Council holds an Ordinary Council Meeting each month, alternating between the Coolgardie and Kambalda Offices. Council meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of every month commencing at 6.00pm.

Ratepayers and residents have the opportunity to address Council with community issues during Public Question Time. Questions submitted by the public need to be in writing and with the Shire President or Chief Executive Officer at least fifteen minutes prior to the commencement of the meeting. Members of the public are always welcome to attend an Ordinary Council Meeting, but can only address Council if they have lodged a question(s).

The Council also hold community forums which provide an opportunity for the Shire to update the community on it's projects, and allows the community to question the Shire and its Councillors on any matters.
