What is a Local Law?
The Local Government Act 1995 permits local governments to develop local laws that are considered necessary for good governance and to perform their functions. Public comment must be considered before the proposed laws are accepted and laws cannot conflict with State or Federal laws.
The Shire of Coolgardie has enacted a number of local laws to ensure that activities throughout the Shire are regulated, controlled and efficiently managed.
